Seattle Urban Greenprint
PHASE 1: RESEARCH
-
Understand the local ecosystem - gather current and predevelopment metrics for carbon flows, biodiversity, and water flows for the Seattle area.
-
Apply biomimicry to “close the gap” between predevelopment and current metrics - identify strategies in nature that support these systems, and understand how these strategies might be applied to the built environment.
-
Make it real - develop details and identify material research opportunities to apply biomimicry to building and infrastructure design.
PHASE 2: OUTREACH
-
Partner with local community organizations – understand environmental missions and building projects on the horizon.
-
Identify opportunities – understand ecosystem functions and community efforts in Seattle as an interconnected system, rather than as isolated projects or teams, and work together to identify physical and functional "gaps" in the system.
PHASE 3: IMPLEMENTATION
-
Champion physical projects - support the efforts of developers, municipalities, and project teams to do work identified in Phase 2
